- Mark posted the following:
-
- : requires MUI. Now, my theory is MUI is processor intensive
- : because no matter how hard I try, I always get jumpy kind of
-
- correct :)
-
- : + killed all background tasks (virus checkers etc).
- : + 2 colour screen.
-
- this is ChipRAM BUS, hmm might help a bit..
-
- : + alternative serial devices (8n1, artser etc).
-
- 8n1 is better :)
-
- : Now, I want to slow MUI down - seriously! :-) I want to
- : give more processor time to the serial port. How can I do
- : this?
-
- right...you can change MUI if you want - put it onto its nasty refresh
- mode (that will speed up its drwaing time...)
-
- : Please, do not say "upgrade", he can not afford it.
-
- addign just 1MB of fastRAM (or anything more) will DOUBLE the speed of
- the A600 - it is WELL worth it.
-
- Also, there is now the Apollo A620 card - this will make the A600 2x
- faster than a FastRAM based A1200 (!!) (so long as you get some memory
- with it)
-
- it is only about 150 UKP (which is MUCH cheaper than getting an A1200)
-
- seriously, a little upgrade (such as fastRAM - or the wonderful A620)
- will be VERY much worth it!
